Red Abalone (Haliotis rufescens)—from northern California.

Red abalone gets its name from the red bark that gets ground away from the outside of the shell. The material used for inlay looks very similar to green abalone with more muted shades. Red abalone is becoming exceedingly rare, and expensive. Therefore I avoid using it in most cases.
