Cocobolo

Cocobolo—not commonly used for fingerboards and bridges, nevertheless, it is a strong performer. Cocobolo is stiff, hard-wearing, and buffs up to a beautiful luster without any finish whatsoever. When freshly cut, orange-red cocobolo can be so brilliant you might be shocked by it. Fortunately, it mellows to a deep warm red with brown and purple-black accents.

Cocobolo also makes great bridges. It is stiff, has a very musical tap-tone, and very light pieces are easy to find.
